How do Muslims treat animals ?

s We have two friends called Hagar and Huda who are from Egypt. They have pet rabbits...they are soooooo cute....like little fat balls of fur with red eyes...the rabbits we mean.

Every time we go to their house we are after Umma to get us pets also, but she never allows us:( We want rabbits, talking parrots and chickens and a bowl of fish...

[Ed Note: our house already looks like a zoo...don't want to add to the menagerie]

Pets are fun but they are a lot of mess and hard work. It is important to have mercy for them and take good care of them so that they don't suffer because of us.

These are some ahadeeth [sayings of the Prophet sall Allaahu alayhi wassallam] which show that Muslims should be kind to all animals...

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
a mother bird and its chicks

We were on a journey with the Prophet sall Allaahu 'alaiyhi wassallam and he left us for a while. During his absence, we saw a bird called hummara with its two young and we took the young ones.
The mother bird was circling above us in the air, beating its wings in grief, when the Prophet sall Allaahu alaiyhi wassallam came back and said: Who has hurt the feelings of this bird by taking its young? Return them to her.
(Narrated by Abdul Rahman bin Abdullah bin Mas'ud- Saheeh Muslim)
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
a cruel woman and her pet cat

The Prophet sall Allaahu alaiyhi wassallam told his companions of a woman who would be sent to Jahannam [Hell] for having locked up a cat; not feeding it, nor even releasing it, so that it could feed itself.
(Narrated by Abdullah bin 'Umar. Saheeh Bukhari)
===================================================================
kindness to animals is rewarded

The Prophet sall Allaahu alaiyhi wassallam was asked if acts of charity even to the animals were rewarded by Allaah. He replied: Yes, there is a reward for acts of charity to every beast alive.
(Narrated by Abu Huraira, Saheeh Bukhari)
===================================================================
never hurt anyone in the face

Jaabir [RA] reported that The Prophet sall Allaahu alaiyhi wassallam forbade striking the face or branding on the face of animals.…
He also reported: when an ass which had been branded in its face passed the Prophet sall Allaahu alaiyhi wassallam he said : Allah curse the one who branded it.
(Narrated by Jaabir bin 'Abdullah Saheeh Muslim).
*******************************************************************
do not disfigure an animal when it is alive

When the Prophet sall Allaahu alaiyhi wassallam migrated to Madinah from Makkah, people there used to cut off the humps of camels and the fat tails of sheep to eat them!!!. The Prophet sall Allaahu 'alaiyhi wassallam ordered this barbaric practice to be stopped and said: Whatever is cut off an animal while it is still alive, is carrion and is unlawful (Haram) to eat.
(Narrated by Abu Waqid al-Laithi. at-Tirmidhi; Hadith No. 1480, Chapt. On Al-At'imah)
*******************************************************************
Gently, Yaa Aaishah

A'ishah [RA] herself narrates: I was riding a restive camel and turned it rather roughly. The Prophet sall Allahu alaiyhi wassallam said: treat the animals gently.
(Narrated by A'ishah [RA]Saheeh Muslim, Vol. 4, Hadith No. 2593).
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
treat the riding animals kindly

The Prophet sall Allaahu alaiyhi wassallam said: Do not clip the forelock of a horse, for a decency is attached to its forelock; nor its mane, for it protects it; nor its tail, for it is, its fly-flap.
(Narrated by 'Utbah ibn Farqad Abu Abdillah al-Sulami. Abu Dawud)
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Once the Prophet [SAW] stopped a companion from burning down an ant-hill because one ant had bitten him!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Prophet sall Allaahu alaiyhi wassallam forbade the practice of cutting tails and manes of horses, of branding animals at any soft spot, and of keeping horses saddled unnecessarily. (Saheeh Muslim)
If the Prophet [SAW] saw any animal over-burdened or ill-fed he would pull up alongside the owner and say: Fear Allah in your treatment of animals.(Abu Dawood, Kitaab Jihad)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The Prophet [SAW] said: Allaah has ordained kindness (and excellence) in everything. If the killing (of animals) is to be done, do it in the best manner, and when you slaughter, do it in the best manner by first sharpening the knife, and putting the animal at ease. ( Saheeh Muslim)
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Killing an animal for fun

The Prophet [SAW] said: If someone kills a sparrow for sport, the sparrow will cry out on the Day of Judgment, "O Lord! That person killed me in vain! He did not kill me for any useful purpose."

The listeners asked: O Messenger of Allah, what is a just cause? He [SAW] replied: That he will kill it to eat, not simply to chop off its head and then throw it away. (Nasaai, Hakim)
-------------------------------------------------------------------
hunting with dogs

The Prophet [SAW] said: When you set your dog (for the chase), mention the name of Allaah, if he catches the game, and you reach it while it is still alive, cut its throat quickly (so it won't suffer). (Saheeh Bukhari, Muslim)
...................................................................
boys teasing hens

Narrated Sa'ad bin Jubair [RA]: While I was with Ibn Umar [RA] we passed by a group of youngmen who had tied a hen and started shooting at it. When they saw Ibn Umar [RA]they dispersed, leaving it. On that Ibn Umar said: Who has done this ? The Prophet sall Allaahu alaiyhi wassallam cursed the one who did so.
(Sahih Bukhari, Hadith No.423, Vol. 7)

sooooo happy to come back and write after one day ...:)
I want to share this information with everyone ... I read about it in a book ...

WHY DO PEOPLE BELIEVE IN WITCHES???

Man is afraid of many things. When he cannot understand why
things happen, especially if he feels frightened or gets injured by them, he tries to explain it in some mysterious way.
The belief in witchcraft was one way of explaining such
things as drought, thunder and lightning and mental and physical illness.

A witch was supposed to be a person of great power and authority, who used that power to do harm. Some people believed that the devil helped witches to do their evil work !!! Usually a witch was a woman, and she was supposed to ride about at night on a broomstick. (heheheh)

If the witch was a man, he was called wizard or a warlock.

Witchcraft had a firm hold on the imaginations of people hundreds of years ago. They lived in ignorance, superstition and fear. But the suprising thing is that many educated people beleived in them too. This was because it was a very easy way of explaining unforseen disasters. In early Christian
times, witches were belived to have sold their souls to the devil,a pagan god, or other evil masters in return for super natural powers.

In 1484, Pope Innocent VIII issued a papal bull formally condemning witchcraft, partly because the terrible plagues that swept Europe were blamed on witchcraft.

During the seventeenth century, both Roman Catholics and Protestants began a witch hunt that brought death to thousands.

In England, there were professional witch -finders who went down the countryside looking for marks of witches and identifying persons as witches. Between 1647 and 1663, hundreds of people in Massachusetts and Connecticut were accused of witchcraft.

Today, doctors believe that many dreams and visions that were blamed on witchcraft were really the products of hysteria or mental illness .

I hope you learned something new inshaAllaah from the loooooooong W*I*T*C*H* post ...

Celebrate Eid EVERY WEEK!

Asaalamu'alaykum wa rahmatu allahi wa barakatuh

Friday in a Muslim country is like Sunday in other countries: it's a holiday.
I can tell u some of the things we do on Fridays

Like everyday, we wake up early for salaat al-Fajr : the morning prayer

After the prayer we sit and read a part of the Qur’aan: Surat Al Kahf [The Cave]. The Prophet sall allaahu alayhi wassallam said that whoever reads this surah will be safe from Dajjaal or the Anti Christ.

We get ready to have a bath – the bathroom is busy until afternoon as we all have baths one after another. The Prophet asked all Muslims to have a bath on Fridays.

After our baths we apply (non-alcoholic) perfume called ‘itr and go for Friday jumu’ah salaat .

All the men put on clean white robes called the thobe and wear scarves or caps on their heads..

The masjid smells fresh and clean of oud [incense]when we go to pray.There are lots of children in the masjid and sometimes I meet my friends from school over there.

After the salaat there are lots of vendors outside the masjid selling farm grown vegetables and fruits like :apples, grapes, dates, bananas, apricots, figs, peaches, pears and raisins.

Some people buy Miswaks, I’ve noticed. These are natural toothbrushes, made from the bark of a tree and was very commonly used by the Prophet salallahu’alayhi wa sallam .

In the afternoon, we eat a special lunch. My favorite lunch is broasted chicken with French fries with juice or ice-cream.

After the 'asr prayer we go for an outing or go to a park or an amusement park. Sometimes we visit people or guests come to our house.

Then we pray maghrib and so on.

We go to sleep at 9 o’ clock, but we don’t forget the salaat al–'isha.

The Friday is the Eid or festival of the muslims which comes every week .

Wassalamu’alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu
Wasallalaaahu 'ala nabiyyina wa 'ala aalihi wa ashaabihi ajma’ieen .

The post was long , was’nt it ! hehehehehehehehe …

Thursday is special because....

... The Prophet [sall Allaahu alayhi wassallam] used to keep a fast on Mondays and Thursdays

...He used to like to start on journeys on Thursdays.

...It’s the day before Friday... and Friday is a holiday!

STORY of the Prophet and the Magician

We found these ahadeeth about Rasoolallaah [sall Allaahu alayhi wa sallam]and how a magician cast a spell over him and how he broke the spell

Surat al-Falaq [113] (The Daybreak)

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

1. Say: "I seek refuge with the Lord of the daybreak,

2. "From the evil of what He has created,

3. "And from the evil of the darkening as it comes with its darkness,

4. "And from the evil of those who practise witchcraft when they blow in the knots,

5. "And from the evil of the envier when he envies."

A Hadith says that Gabriel(Jibreel) alayhi salaam came to the Prophet sall Allaahu alayhi wa sallam and said: O Muhammad! Are you sick?
When the Prophet said yes, he said, invoke the Name of Allah against every disease that pains you, against the evil of every envier and against any evil eye. May Allah heal you."
The disease referred to in this Hadith was probably a magic spell. Allah healed His Messenger and repelled that magic.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Imaam Ahmad bin Hanbal reported that a Jew bewitched the Prophet and then he remained under its spell for several days.
Then Gabriel came to him and informed him that such and such Jew had enchanted him and has hidden a knotted rope in such and such well. He asked him to send somebody to get it.
The Prophet sent someone to bring them back, untied them, and the spell was broken. The Prophet never mentioned it to that Jew nor showed him any anger.
================================================================
Imaam Bukhari reported a Hadith from 'Aishah [radiyaallaahu anhaa]. She narrated that when the Prophet was bewitched under a magic spell, he thought that he came to his wives while he had not done so. Once he said to me. "I asked my Lord and He showed me. Two persons came and one sat near my head and the other near my legs.
The man sitting near my head asked the other: 'What has happened to this man.' He said: 'He is under the a spell.' He asked: 'Who bewitched him?' He answered: 'Labid bin A'sim from the Bani Zuraiq tribe. They are allies of the Jews.'
The man asked: 'What has charmed? The other answered: 'The comb and the hair.' He asked: 'Where are those things?' 'In the well of Dharwan, under a rock."'
The Prophet sent 'Ali [radiyallaahu anhu] to the well and had the things dug out. I ('Aishah) suggested that the magician should be punished. The Prophet a said, "Praise is for Allah. He healed me. Now I do not like to incite people for me."
H@RRY P*oT*t*E*r
5 REASONS WE STAY FAAAAAAAAAAAAR AWAY FRoM H@RRy
1. Once we saw the first Harry Potter book in a book shop and we were after Ummaa to buy it because we loooooooooove reading.But Ummaa told us that anything to do with magic -- learning it, teaching it, watching it, doing it, buying or selling it -- is HARAAM [banned] in Islaam.
2. Rasoolullaah [sall Allaahu alayhi wassalam] told us that magic is harmful. Once a magician in Madina harmed Rasoolullaah with his magic spell, so the angel Jibreel alayhi salaam brought two surahs which save a person from the bad effects of magic and magicians. They are: Surah Al Falaq and Surah An Naas.
But Harry Potter tries to make it look like *m*a*g*i*c*k is a cooool thing to learn and do.
3. I read the story of one Harry Potter book in our Sunday newspaper and it sounded really weird to me...it was like talking about things which are out of this world.
I like reading books about real people like the sahaaba, the stories of the Prophets, Famous Five, Secret Seven, the boarding school stories about St Clare's and Mallory Towers etc. I think they're exciting and fun!!It's not like if I don't read H@rry Potter I'm not reading anything.
4. I don't want to be a magician when i grow up ...hehehhe...I want to be a ------------- (tell u later)
So many children want to be like Harry Potter and his friends after reading these books...I find it funny...
5. Umma won't let us ;)
M*a*G*i*C*k
The Arabic word for magic is sihr
A magician is called a saahir
THe Story Of Haaroot and Maaroot
The Qur'aan has many stories about magic and magicians. One story is the story of 2 angels called Haaroot and Maaroot. They were sent to a city called Babylon where people used to practice magic. The angels warned the people not to practice such magic which caused fights between a man and his wife, but the people did not listen and were later punished. [Surah Al Baqarah 2:102]
**************************************************************
The story of Pharoah's magicians and Musa alayhi salaam
Allaah ta'aala gave Musa alayhi salaam some proofs that he was a Messenger of Allaah. In the valley of Tu'wa , Musa alayhi salaam was looking for some fire to warm his family when he heard a VOICE. The VOICE came from a bush which looked as if it was BURNING WITH FIRE!!!The VOICE asked Musa alayhi salaam to take off his shoes because he was in a holy place and told him that HE was MUSA's LORD! That is why Musa alayhi salaaam is called Kaleemullaah [THe One talked to ALLaah!!!]
Allaah asked Musa alayhi salaam what was in his hand, and he replied that it was his shepherd's staff/stick. Allaah ordered Musa alayhi salaam to throw it down and it turned into a BIG SNAKE!!!Musa alayhi salaam was scared to see that and Allaah then asked him to pick it up he got even more scared. How could he pick up a snake???!!
But when he picked it up it turned into a stick again!!
Then Allaah asked him to put his hand into his jayb near his armpit and when he took it out it was shining with a BRIGHT WHITE LIGHT!! Allaah asked Musa alayhi salaam to go to Pharoah , but Musa alayhi salaam did not want to go alone so Allaah made his brother Haaroon also a nabiyy or a prophet.
Finally Musa and Haarooon alayhimus salaam reached Pharoah's court to tell him to free Banee Israeel whom he had made slaves in Egypt. When Musa alayhi salaam showed Pharoah the signs that Allaah had given him , Pharoah thought that Musa alayhi salaam was doing magic.
So he invited him to a competition on a fixed day when a lot of people gathered. He called his most clever magicians. They asked Musa alayhi salaam whose turn it would be first, and Musa alayhi salaam allowed them to go first.
The magicians threw their sticks and they became snakes. Musa alayhi salaam was shocked to see that they could do the same thing that he could and was scared. But Allaah told him to throw his stick and when he did that, it became a BIGGER snake and swallowed the others!!
The magicians were amazed to see this and at once said that they believe in the Lord of Musaa alayhi salaam. But Pharoah got angry when he heard this because he used to say: Anaa Rabbukumul 'Aalaa I am your LOrd Most High. He was very angry that the magicians had lost and accused them of learning magic from Musa alayhi salaam and cheating him.
Pharoah was also furious that the magicians could accept Allaah without asking him for permission first and he told them that he would cut off their hands and feet and have them killed.
But the magicians were not scared of dying and even when Pharoah did as he said he would, they died peacefully asking Allaah to forgive them for whatever wrong that they had done in this life![This story is in Surah Taa Haa and other parts of the Qur'aan]
I know this was a loooooooong story but I hope you enjoyed it and found it exciting!!
We got our results today!!!
Rasha: Assalaamu'alaykum all!!!! We're just back from school alhamdulillaah we got our results today :):):)
Rida: I have all A's alhamdu lilah :)
Rasha: I got lots of toys for prizes and a cooool green handbag.
Rida: No problem I got a little bag fullll of toys.
Rasha: What! no no. I shall buy more goodieeees than you, Rida.
Rida: Do that, no problem.I have moooooore then I wanted alhamdulilah.
[Editor:dyou think of those kids who don't have anything, no school, no exams, no results, no toys when y'all are fighting over silly things?]
Rasha: Rida is the one who is saying that she has more than me alhamdulilah . i understud you ... i forgot
to remember .......
Rida: Yes, very well. But I never fight over sooo many small things. I think Rasha only likes her results and her prizes. She doesn't care for anything in the world. Do you know why? Because just now she could't see her handbag she began to cry (a little).
Rasha: Thank you very much, Rida. Imagine, now if she loses something, she begins to blame me. It isn't fair, Rida. I thought we could write something happy in the blog but, because you wrote that for me, you changed it into a sad ending story :(
[Editor: okay, time out you two. Write about something nice that happened in school today...something that made you :)]
Rasha: Well , many girls were absent in the class including
Razan and Rahmah . We wore color dresses ... because there
was a Party in the school and everyone was looking different. Some girls were all dressed up with rollers in their hair and funny ponytails...
some of the girls used to call me names and act weird with me because I'm not from their country and they would say mean stuff but today I acted like I couldn't hear what they were saying and I said: What? Whaaaaat? and they kept quiet after a while....... hehehehe.
Rida: And my teacher's daughter looked funny with two biiiiiiig ponytails and a big red frock. We went to the terrace for our party, it was great fun. We had sweets there too. Some of the girls were ..... But we can't tell you about them.
What are you going to say now,RASHA?
Rasha: okay I want to tell you about this girl who used to bully me in class and when I used to tell her that i'll tell the teacher she used to say I'm not scared of the teacher, I'm only scared of God.
So the next time she was mean to me I told her I'll tell Allaah about her and He will take care of her meanness...that made her keep quiet...hehehehehe ...
i think our post is long and i hope you all liked it ... inshaallah we shall write later about our school and our holidays ...inshaallah
We're sorry to see the children die. Little girls and boys going to the corner shop in a group to get candy. Shot in the head. Why do THEY do it? WHY???
We're sad to see the animals at Rafah zoo killed. The slides and swings broken, creaking in the wind. It was the only place where the children went to play, to get away. Why do THEY do it? WHY???
We're sorry when we see the children in the tents. Brown hair turning golden in the sun. Dirty clothes, dirty feet, dirty water to drink. They have no homes because their houses were crushed. Why do THEY do it? WHY???
We're sad to see the children cry when members of their families die. Fathers and mothers, sisters and brothers, uncles and aunts killed or dying. Why do THEY do it? WHY???
The day they killed them
The day they killed their dad I smiled
At the funny comic book I was reading.
Munched chips, sipped orange juice,
Played out in my garden for a while.
The day they killed their mom I laughed
At the stupid things Mickey Mouse did.
Had choco biscuits with my milk
And a bath before going to my bunk bed.
The day they killed their brother I danced
With my little brother who's just started to walk.
Round and round and round we went
To the sound of nursery rhymes on our CD.
The day they killed their sister I shopped
For a pink birthday T-shirt that I wanted.
In and out of malls we went all day long
Until I found it at Baby Shop at last!
The day they crushed their house I screamed
I wasn't at home
I was on a rollercoaster ride.
Why don't I cry, you ask?
To see all those people in pain?
Coz that's the way it will be
Until those who killed them come to kill my family and me.
